Where myth meets mountain

In the shadow of the Himalayas, just beyond the sacred town of Badrinath, lies the quaint village of Mana. Here, spanning a narrow gorge of the tumultuous Saraswati River, stands Bheem Pul—a natural rock bridge steeped in legend. This remarkable formation, named after the mighty Bheem of the Indian epic 'Mahabharata' serves as both a functional crossing and a living piece of mythology.

Local lore attributes its creation to Bheem's extraordinary strength, used to aid his brothers during their celestial journey. Today, Bheem Pul continues to captivate visitors, offering a tangible link between India's rich mythological past and the awe-inspiring natural beauty of Uttarakhand's mountainous terrain.

A legendary marvel

Legend has it that Bheem Pul was built by the mighty Pandava prince Bheem during their exile in the Himalayas. According to local folklore, Bheem constructed this massive stone bridge to cross the Saraswati River, which flows beneath it in a tumultuous cascade of frothy white water. The bridge, said to have been crafted from a single colossal boulder, stands as a testament to Bheem's strength and ingenuity, a marvel of engineering that has withstood the test of time.

A bridge to adventure

But Bheem Pul is more than just a relic of the past; it is a gateway to adventure, inviting travellers to embark on a journey of exploration and discovery. As you traverse the ancient stones of the bridge, you can feel the weight of history beneath your feet, a tangible connection to the myth and legend that surround you. And as you gaze upon the rushing waters of the Saraswati River below, you can't help but feel a sense of exhilaration, knowing that you are treading in the footsteps of heroes.
