Enter an elegant sanctuary of spiritual inspiration

The Tulsi Manas Temple in Varanasi is a testament to devotion and literary brilliance. The temple is dedicated to Lord Rama and named after the revered saint and poet Goswami Tulsidas. Legend has it that Tulsidas penned the epic Ramcharitmanas in the vicinity of this very temple during the 16th century AD.

The temple, also known as Sri Satyanarayana Tulsi Manas Mandir, is a spiritual gem in Varanasi. As you step into this sacred space, you'll find yourself amid a rich history and culture deeply ingrained in Hinduism. It also has a museum with a rare collection of manuscripts and artefacts. Situated near the Durga Temple in the Durgakund neighbourhood, the temple is crafted from marble and is surrounded by beautiful landscaping that enhances its charm and appeal.

Marvel at the beauty of the temple’s design

Tulsi Manas Temple is a masterpiece crafted from white marble that radiates an irresistible glow, set amidst the tranquillity of its enchanting garden. Inside this sacred sanctuary there is a  display of intricate images depicting the revered figures of Lord Rama, Mother Sita, Lakshman, and Lord Hanuman, intricately carved into the marble walls. The temple's Shikhara-style architecture is adorned with inscriptions from the timeless epic Ramcharitmanas, making it a truly remarkable sight to behold.

Take a moment to admire the intricate Chaupayees, Dohas, Chhandas, and Sorathas scripted on the temple walls, each carrying profound spiritual significance. On the second floor there are  statues and scenes depicting the epics of the Ramayana and Mahabharata, creating an enriching spiritual journey through this magnificent temple.

As you wander through the temple grounds, you'll find more statues lining the banks of a lovely pond, each representing a different subject from the Hindu Epics. Lord Shiva stands majestically at the eastern ghat, while at the western bank, you'll find a statue honouring Goswami Tulsidas Ji.

This architectural marvel was built by the Thakur Das Sureka family of Howrah, West Bengal, in 1964 and was inaugurated by HH Dr. Sarvapalli Radhakrishanan, the second President of India.

Experience a journey of wonder

Make your experience at Tulsi Manas Temple even more special by visiting during the monsoon months of Saawan (July-August). During this time, the temple hosts an extraordinary exhibition of handcrafted puppets and puppet shows, bringing alive the story of Rama, Sita, and the epic battle of good versus evil to life.
