…in a temple like no other
In this temple, you can feel the indomitable spirit and sacrificial fervour that fuelled India's arduous journey towards freedom. In its very stones echoes the patriotism of freedom fighter Babu Shiv Prasad Gupta, who constructed this iconic temple. Fittingly, Mahatma Gandhi himself inaugurated this temple, and on that historic day, he said, "In this temple, there are no statues of gods and goddesses. Here, there is only a map of India raised on marble. I hope that this temple will take the form of a worldwide platform for all religions, along with Harijans, and of all castes and beliefs, and it will contribute to feelings of religious unity, peace, and love in this country."
Interestingly, Maithili Sharan Gupt, one of the pioneers of modern Hindi poetry, also wrote a poem for the temple's opening, and you can find it displayed inside on a board.
