While Emperor Akbar did not live to see his mausoleum completed, his son Jehangir took on its completion and added his own distinctive touch. Under Jehangir's direction, changes were made that displayed the evolving styles of Mughal art and architecture; three-story red sandstone minarets embellished with exquisite inlaid marble work showcased masterful craftsmanship during that era, making Sikandra an outstanding testament of architectural excellence.
