Descend to the Rudrasagar Lake
Neermahal was built as a summer palace for the Maharaja and took nine years to complete. As you venture inside, you will notice that the palace is split into two sections. The western side, known as Andar Mahal, was designed for the royal family. On the other hand, the eastern side was an open-air theatre where various cultural events were held to entertain the Maharajas and their families.
Two majestic staircases inside will lead you to a landing on the Rudrasagar Lake. Fascinatingly, this lake was declared a RAMSAR site (a wetland designated as of international importance under the Ramsar Convention) by UNESCO in 1971. The lake also hosts one of India's largest Boat Race Festivals every year, an outstanding testament to the passion and spirit of its people. You can enjoy a scenic cruise across the lake and appreciate the beauty of Neermahal from a unique perspective. Take in breathtaking views of the palace and observe local fishing activities and migratory birds during winter.
