Start your journey in Madurai by exploring the city’s rich spiritual aura and cultural heritage. Your travel will begin with a visit to the Thirumalai Nayak Palace. It is built wholly by brick and mortar sans the support of any rafter or girder. It is an Indo-Saracenic architectural marvel. Next, you will head to the Gandhi Memorial Museum to get an insight into Madurai’s poignant history. It is one of the five Gandhi Sanghralayas in the country that houses a blood-stained garment adorned by Mahatma Gandhi on the day of his assassination. Continue your religious, historical, and cultural heritage exploration with a visit to the Government Museum, which houses some rare exhibits. Only a brief drive from the museum are the Kaanadukathan and Karaikudi towns, wherein you will be enchanted by the Chettinad culture famous for its distinct craftsmanship and unique cuisine. Commence the day with a visit to the much-popular Sri Meenakshi-Sundareswarar Temple, one of India's largest and oldest temples. You will find several paintings and sculptures here. Your next visit will be to the Azhagar Kovil Temple. Nestled at the foothills of the Alagar hills, it is one of the most prominent temples in Madurai. Further, travel to the Srivilliputtur Andal Temple dedicated to Lord Shiva. It is 80 km from Madurai and is built in the Dravidian style architecture.

The next stop will be Teppakulam, a majestic square tank spread over a massive area of 16 acres. This tank is the backdrop for the vibrant float festival. It is an annual celebration conducted in Jan/Feb to commemorate the birth anniversary of King Thirumalai Nayak, who built this tank. Your last stop for the day will be to Grizzled Squirrel Sanctuary, a wildlife sanctuary constructed in 1988 to guard the near-threatened grizzled giant squirrel. However, you can spot many other animals here, including Bengal Tiger.

Your next stop will be the Suruli Waterfalls, which originate from the Megamalai mountain range. Herein, you will see the water dropping from 150 feet and gathering into a pool. It is a beautiful site to behold. People also regard the water here as holy with many medicinal properties. Next, you will head to the Elephant Hill (Yanaimalai). You will trek to the 3km elephant-looking mountain with Jain sculptures, Vaishnavite temples, and Shaivite temples.

Further, travel to the Kurinji Andavar Murugan Temple. It lies amidst the lush hills for your spiritual awakening.
