Of priceless antiques and manuscripts
The museum is divided into two parts, the Art Gallery and the Antiquities Gallery. Here, on display is the world's most remarkable collection of jade artefacts, sculptures, paintings, and textiles from civilisations across the globe.
The museum houses a range of rare and valuable artefacts, including a painting of Raja Ram Mohan Roy, Aurangzeb's sword, daggers that belonged to Shah Jahan and Jehangir, and the wardrobe of Tipu Sultan. The collection also features several priceless sculptures, such as the Veiled Rebecca and the Double Statue of Mephistopheles & Margaretta. One of the museum's biggest attractions is a musical clock that dates back to the 19th century and consists of over 350 parts.
As you explore deeper, you will find beautiful Mughal miniature paintings that are exclusively preserved within this museum. Go further, and you'll discover a refuge for scholars and researchers within the museum's library and research centre.
