Cascading Peace

Kovai Kutralam Falls is a series of cascading waterfalls formed by the Siruvani River, renowned for its pristine waters and therapeutic properties. The falls are set against the backdrop of dense forests and towering mountains, creating a mesmerizing vista that captivates the senses.

The main waterfall, known locally as Peraruvi (meaning 'big waterfall' in Tamil), plunges from a height of approximately 37 meters, creating a stunning spectacle of water gushing over the rocks and forming a natural pool at the base. The water is crystal clear and cool, inviting visitors to take a refreshing dip and soak in the natural beauty of the surroundings.

Nature’s Untainted Beauty

The Kovai Kutralam is located below the Siruvani dam and thus comes under the State Forest Department. Due to this, the place is still untouched, unexploited, and away from civilization. The Siruvani River, from which the Kovai Kutralam originates, holds cultural importance for the native people of the region. It is revered by the local population, and there are several myths and legends associated with it. The water is also considered sacred by some communities.

The place also requires special permission to visit. If you are planning a trip near Coimbatore, don’t forget to set a day aside to visit Kovai Kutralam Falls. Although you will need to obtain permission from the Forest Department to visit, it is not a tedious process.

The Forest Department bans the use of plastic bags in this area, thus they do not carry any plastic bags. Do not litter the place with any sort of garbage as it is a punishable offence. Due to its ecological significance and importance as a water source, efforts are being made to conserve the Siruvani River and its surrounding ecosystem. Visitors are therefore encouraged to respect the natural environment and adhere to the above-mentioned guidelines or regulations in order to protect the environment in and around the Siruvani River.
