Stories of conservation and collaboration
The park's star attraction is Jaws III, named after the iconic giant shark monster from films. At nearly 1 ton and 16 feet in length, Jaws III is considered the largest captive crocodile.
The trust's dedication to conservation extends far beyond its sanctuary walls. Partnering with Irulas tribe, known for their adept snake hunting skills, they extract venom from captured snakes before safely releasing it back into nature - this process plays a pivotal role in developing lifesaving snakebite treatments and creates an incredible story of harmony and protection between humans and reptiles.
Madras Crocodile Bank Trust has received several prestigious conservation awards, such as the Whitley Award. Furthermore, they have been featured in several documentaries and television shows like National Geographic's Wild Chronicles and BBC's Secret Life of Crocodiles. Additionally they have become popular filming locations and have even appeared in movies such as Karnan and "The Blue Umbrella."
