Built in 1559 by Maharana Udai Singh, the lake was a strategic marvel. A dam on the Berach River ensured a steady water supply for his kingdom. The lake even played a pivotal role in shaping Rajasthan's history. In 1573, on the shores of Udai Sagar, Maharana Pratap Singh famously refused to surrender to the Mughal emperor Akbar, a decision that sparked the legendary Battle of Haldighati. Years later, the lake witnessed another victory as Maharana Raj Singh defeated Aurangzeb's army here.
