However, this truce was shattered under the reign of the treacherous Aurangzeb, whose ambitions once more cast covetous eyes upon Jodhpur's crown jewel. After Aurangzeb's demise in 1707, the Mughals were driven out, and under the guidance of Maharaja Ajit Singh, the fort underwent a glorious renovation; its battered ramparts were further strengthened with the resplendent Fateh Pol – the Victory Gate.
