This is a fascinating tale from Indian folklore and mythology, centred around a legendary king who underwent a profound spiritual transformation. Raja Bharthari was the ruler of Ujjain, a kingdom in ancient India. He was known for his wisdom, valour and love for his queen, Pingala. One day, Bharthari discovered that his beloved queen Pingala was secretly in love with a royal courtier named Lakhan. Shocked and heartbroken by this betrayal, Bharthari renounced his kingdom and worldly possessions. He retreated to the forest, seeking solace and enlightenment. In the forest, Bharthari met Guru Gorakhnath, a renowned yogi and saint, who guided him on the path of deep meditation and asceticism.
