Welcome to the unguarded wild

Welcome to the 660-hectare spread of budding habitat that makes for an unforgettable adventure for nature enthusiasts and wildlife fans. One of the best wildlife sanctuaries for you to spot wildlife at close quarters, Bir Bhuneheri served formerly as a hunting reserve for Patiala rulers who frequented these grounds for game. Established as a protected area in 1952, Bir Bhunerheri Wildlife Sanctuary now provides habitat to over 200 different animal species. You’d be surprised to know that the sanctuary remains mostly unguarded, with only 240 hectares enclosed by fencing! Explore nature and wildlife as you embark on an unforgettable journey into Bir Bhunerheri today!

An attractive mix for wildlife exploration

The Bir Bhunerheri Wildlife Sanctuary, home to a large number of species and lush flora, is an excellent location for nature lovers. As you stroll through the sanctuary, keep an eye out for the colourful array of wildlife that calls Bir Bhunerheri home - from blackbuck, sambar, blue bull, hog deer, porcupine, jackal, rhesus monkey and jungle cats to over 100 avian species that grace its skies. If you are a bird watcher, do keep an eye out for the vibrant parakeets, spotted owlets, charming quails, and rare pigeons.

Bir Bhunerheri hosts its fair share of ancient dwellers. Its botanic diversity boasts over 100 species of trees, such as Kikar, Shisham, and Jamun. In fact, one of the most distinct features of the sanctuary is the thick plantation of Shisham and Kikar trees, something that helps the wild animals in habitation. Witnessing wild animals amidst the lush Kikar and Shisham trees within the protected area evokes sheer enjoyment. Naturally, the experience resembles a jungle safari as you traverse the sanctuary in your safari car, encountering the diverse wildlife along the way.
