The 17th-century marvel

Bahadurgarh Fort holds a rich history that dates back to 1658 when it was originally built by Nawab Saif Khan, a devout follower of Guru Tegh Bahadur. The Nawab invited the Guru to spend part of each rainy season within its walls, lending an auspicious spiritual aura to the fort's history. The fort, however, could not get completed during the Nawab’s reign. Maharaja Karam Singh, who ascended the throne at the tender age of thirteen, undertook extensive renovation work in 1837. The fort stands today in its current form, a result of nearly eight years of meticulous effort to restore its grandeur.

The fort’s complex sprawls over an area of 2 square kilometres, encircled by two formidable walls and a protective moat. Within its walls lies Gurudwara Sahib Patshahi Nauvin, an ancient Sikh temple where you can pay your respects and gain greater insight into the Sikh faith. The fort also plays host to the annual Mela Roza Sharit Nawab Saif Ali, a fair filled with local traditions and spellbinding cuisine. Bahadurgarh Fort is truly a captivating destination owing to its age-old history and traditions that resonate with travellers from far and wide. Whether you are a history buff or simply a cultural enthusiast, be prepared to be enthralled by this monument!

A display of architectural genius

Bahadurgarh Fort boasts an intriguing circular design encircled by two formidable ramparts and a moat that once made it an insurmountable challenge for would-be invaders. Furthermore, its prominence was reinforced with renovations worth around ten lakh rupees which would translate to billions today!
