Arches, artefacts, gardens, and more
As you walk into the museum, its brilliance envelops you in every corner, and you're instantly whisked away on a journey through time. The erstwhile palace is a masterpiece of Sikh architecture, adorned with stunning arches, domes, and intricately crafted frescoes adorning its expansive ceilings and walls.
The museum has an impressive treasury of artefacts linked to Maharaja Ranjit Singh. Among the captivating displays are paintings depicting scenes from the Maharaja's court and encampments, with a particularly renowned portrayal of Lahore standing out among them. The coins and manuscripts on view eloquently reflect his commitment to secularism and the magnitude of the Sikh province. An arms and ammunition section also boasts a marvellous collection of weaponry, reminiscent of the formidable arsenal wielded by the great warriors of that era.
Adjacent to this institution stands the brilliant Maharaja Ranjit Singh Panorama, a visual record that beautifully encapsulates the essence of the Maharaja's life and legacy.
Outside the palace is a delightful garden called Ram Bagh, named after Guru Ram Das, the esteemed fourth guru of the Sikhs and the visionary founder of Amritsar. The garden boasts a variety of beautiful flowers and trees, as well as water fountains and ponds. Here, you will experience serenity of another kind.
