A spiritual haven in a tranquil setting

Nestled in Thatta village near Amritsar, Gurudwara Bir Baba Budha Sahib stands as a revered Sikh shrine dedicated to Baba Budha Ji, the first head priest of Harmandir Sahib. This sacred site's tranquil ambience and rich history draw visitors seeking spiritual solace and connection to Sikh traditions.

The complex is beautifully adorned with intricate marble work and colourful frescoes, creating a tranquil atmosphere for spiritual reflection.

The legacy of Baba Budha Ji

Baba Budha Ji, an esteemed figure in Sikh history, was blessed by Guru Nanak Dev as a child and played a pivotal role in anointing five successive Gurus with the title of Guruship. The Gurudwara's main attraction is the sacred well where Baba Budha Ji performed his daily ablutions, believed to possess healing properties that devotees seek for blessings.

Legend has it that Guru Arjan Dev's wife, Ganga Devi, sought Baba Budha Ji's blessings when she couldn't conceive. Despite offering various delicacies, Baba Budha Ji refused to eat until Ganga Devi presented Missi Roti (Chickpea Flour Flatbread) and onion, which led to her being blessed with a son, Guru Hargobind Singh Ji. The Gurudwara still serves Missi Roti and Onion as Prashad to honour this event.

Community service at the gurudwara

Adjacent to the Gurudwara stands Guru Ka Langar, a two-storied residential block offering a glimpse into the community's commitment to service and hospitality. The canopied seat holding the revered Guru Granth Sahib and the Amrit Sarovar further enhances the spiritual aura of the Gurudwara.
