The largest church in Mizoram

There's a place in Aizawl where all its breathtaking, picturesque landscape converges upon a single spot. It's a place where the grand white marble walls stand majestically, and the air is redolent of serenity.

Behold Solomon's Temple, the largest church in Mizoram, located in the Kidron Valley, just 10 kilometres from Aizawl. This non-denominational (not affiliated with the mainline church) church resembles its legendary namesake in ancient Jerusalem, chronicled within the sacred pages of the Old Testament.

Known locally as 'Kohhran Thianghlim' or 'The Holy Church', the idea of the temple came in the dream of Dr L.B. Sailo, the founder of Kohhran Thianghlim Church, who saw a vision in which he was informed of the design and structure of the temple. For many years, Solomon's Temple remained a distant dream, but in 1996, amidst trials and triumphs, the vision came to life with the laying of the foundation stone. However, the complete construction took 20 years! But since, it has reigned as the city's most revered attraction.

Stepping into magnificence

You'll marvel at Solomon's Temple, where space is beyond measurements. It can hold about 3,000 people in the main hall and 10,000 in its courtyard. Every arch, every column, and every intricately carved detail here welcomes you with open arms.

Its 4 pillars rise steadfastly, each graced with 7 symbols of the Star of David, symbolising the angels of the 7 churches, as foretold in the book of Revelations. Towering above, 4 majestic spires proudly bear the crowns of Salvation, Righteousness, Life, and Overcomer, heralding the divine rewards awaiting the devout.

Its beautiful courtyard is christened the 'Porch of Solomon's Temple'. It offers solace beneath the shadow of towering pillars and the gentle sway of trees. Here, the hands of time dare not tread, for the past and present unite in a timeless embrace of belief and devotion.

Then there are 4 fronts, each with 3 doors. Passing through these 12 main doors is reminiscent of the gates in Revelations, like being welcomed into a realm where earthly and celestial blend.

Above, the intersecting ridges of the pitched roof form a celestial cross emblematic of the new covenant. Inside, you'll see no partition walls, a true sight.

The temple complex also boasts a lush natural park within its compound. Adorned with a variety of forest and fruit-bearing trees, it offers shade and sustenance for local wildlife. There is also a restaurant, an educational institution, and a social service centre with a de-addiction facility and a polyclinic.
