Witness the beauty of architecture
Built between 1877 and 1884, the Shree Chhatrapati Shahu Museum features a beautiful blend of Jain and Hindu architecture from Gujarat and Rajasthan with Rajwada style elements from Mumbai. Designed by British architect Charles Mant, its striking black polished stone structure boasts eight-angled structures topped by an ancient clock dating back to 1877; towers punctuate its landscape at various intervals.
A museum, a treasure trove
The Chhatrapati Shahu Museum boasts an unrivalled treasure trove of unusual and rare collections, such as walking sticks crafted from leopard and tiger vertebrae, ashtrays fashioned out of rhino foot bones, and candleholders made out of ostrich feet! All these artefacts bring an extra special dimension to museum experience.
