Designed to evoke reverence
The entire ambience of Shaurya Smarak is a thoughtfully designed landscape to ignite a deep sense of patriotism in visitors. Through its abstract theme, it symbolises triumph over death, depicting the different phases of life, the theatre of war and the ultimate sacrifice. Beside the Shaurya Stambh, there is a Smarak Jyoti, a holographic flame that honours the martyrs, while a red sculpture intelligently appears as a 'Namaskar' (greeting) when viewed from the main axis and 'A Drop of Blood' when viewed from another axis. You can also have several takeaways to reflect on as the war memorial incorporates teachings from the Bhagavad Gita, highlighting profound messages about life, death and the immortal nature of the soul.
Experience the warriors’ experiences
Descend into the underground museum at the memorial, where several galleries pay homage to valiant warriors who braved conflicts with Pakistan and China, offering glimpses into the realm of warfare through exquisite models of warships, submarines, and aircrafts. There are also dedicated galleries showcasing the different ranks and badges of the Army, Navy, and Air Force. If you are an ardent learner this will provide you with interesting insights into the world of military insignias.
One of the most compelling exhibits in the museum recreates the freezing temperature of the Siachen Glacier. This unique feature allows you to gain a first-hand understanding of the harsh conditions and challenging terrains faced by soldiers in the Siachen war zones, creating a truly immersive and educational experience at the war memorial. Moving displays of soldiers' actual footwear serve as poignant reminders of their selflessness and unwavering dedication, while the 37-feet bronze-cast Bharat Mata statue stands tall in reverence to India and its people.
