Deity

The presiding deity is Maha Vishnu, in the standing posture with four hands, which carry a Sankhu (conch), Sudarshana chakram (a serrated disk), lotus and mace. A representation of Lord Krishna as a child (Balakrishna) is worshipped in the form of "Guruvayurappan,". The idol of Guruvayurappan is made of a special stone known as "Patala Anjana" and is adorned with jewels and ornaments. The temple also houses idols of other deities, including Lord Ganesh and Lord Ayyappan.
