Living testimony of Nambuthiri heritage

Varikkasseri family history spans millennia. Amongst Ashta Gruha (Eight Families), it holds a highly esteemed position. Varikkasseri Mana stands as a testament to this legacy, having been built around 1902 by Varikkasseri Ravi Namboothirippad using locally sourced red bricks. This architectural marvel exemplifies traditional Kerala style, featuring over 74 rooms, two outhouses, a serene pond and even a family temple. You may detect elements of Victorian architecture within its pathayapura (granary).

Varikkasseri Mana has earned its place as an ideal film set, having been used in many productions. With its charming atmosphere and stunning architectural details, Varikkasseri Mana is an ever-popular choice among directors.  Devasuram, Aaraam Thampuran, Rappakal are some examples of movies that were filmed on its premises.
