Gateway of devotion

This temple exhibits an exquisite blend of Dravidian and Kerala architectural styles. This holy site showcases a splendid gopuram (tower) decorated with intricate carvings. Over time, various dynasties and rulers patronised its grounds. An impressive gateway tower stands tall at its entrance. The temple plays an integral role in local religious and cultural life as well as hosting several festivals dedicated to Lord Ganesha.

An impressive heritage

Sri Mahaganapathi takes its name from Hindu mythology, where Lord Ganesha is revered as the deity who removes obstacles and brings success and prosperity. According to the legend, Parashurama, an avatar of Lord Vishnu, established this temple by throwing his axe into the sea. According to Hindu belief, Lord Ganesha himself appeared spontaneously at this temple, meaning without human intervention! This popular pilgrimage site and cultural landmark attracts both devotees and tourists alike!
