A tale of unyielding devotion
Here at the realm where legend and history intertwine, you can discover the legacy of Sri Vyasaraja, the revered Dwaita Philosopher and Rajguru of the Vijayanagara Empire. The ancient rocks of Hampi, where Sri Vyasaraja used to draw a picture of Lord Hanuman with charcoal, each illustration vanished in the wind. For twelve consecutive days, the mysterious disappearance of Sri Vyasaraja's charcoal sketches persisted until the guru humbly beseeched Lord Hanuman to reveal himself. On the twelfth day, the culmination of unwavering devotion bore fruit as Lord Hanuman appeared in front of his devotee and blessed him. According to another legend, it is believed that Lord Rama and Lord Hanuman might have crossed paths on this very soil for the first time. This temple is one of the 732 sanctuaries consecrated by Sri Vyasaraja and stands as a tribute to when gods and mortals communed in perfect harmony.
As you tread upon this sacred ground, you will get to see the Yantrodharaka Hanuman Stotram. The grand form of Lord Hanuman, decked with hexagonal amulets and encircled by twelve monkey idols, each a represention of a day of devout prayer. This immersive design, immortalised upon a single stone boulder, stands tall at eight feet in height.
