Coracle ride
For a water-based adventure, embark on a coracle ride along the Tungabhadra River. The coracle, a traditional boat with centuries of history in this region, has been a reliable means of ferrying people across the river. Historically, these boats featured interiors crafted from cane and exteriors covered in leather. However, the modern rendition utilizes waterproof plastic sheets and bitumen sheets, enhancing durability. Typically accommodating around eight people, coracles sometimes allow the transportation of cycles and bikes. Beyond being a tranquil escape, a coracle ride provides a unique vantage point for admiring the ancient ruins. Drifting along with the rhythmic flow of the river, you'll experience a profound sense of serenity and connection with the rich history enveloping you. In Hampi, there are three locations designated for coracle crossings. The initial site is situated at the ghat, a stepped river bank, near the Virupaksha Temple. The second location is positioned in front of the Kodandarama Temple, while the third, and notably the most popular, is adjacent to the Vittala Temple.
