A natural haven

Hazaribagh Wildlife Sanctuary (earlier Hazaribagh National Park) lies tucked between rolling hills and verdant valleys, inviting visitors with its breathtaking landscape and abundant biodiversity to experience its stunning beauty and explore 184 square kilometres of deep forests, winding streams, and vibrant grass meadows.

Historical significance and thriving ecosystem

Hazaribagh Wildlife Sanctuary, previously known as Hazaribagh National Park, holds historical and ecological significance as one of India's early wildlife sanctuaries. With picturesque rolling hills, steep cliffs, deep valleys and meandering streams forming a breathtaking visual feast; you'll also encounter impressive species like majestic tigers and leopards along with graceful deer and sloth bears - not forgetting an array of bird species, giving this sanctuary its flourishing ecosystem status.

Wildlife in its element

The Sanctuary's lush tropical forests and varied vegetation, primarily Sal trees, serve as an ecological haven for numerous species, maintaining equilibrium throughout the region. Watchtowers placed near water holes allow visitors to witness wildlife up close -  its name is derived from ancient words meaning thousands and bagh meaning tigers! Watchtowers near water holes also allow them to observe animals up close. This wildlife sanctuary takes its name from this abundance. Visitors can witness mesmerising views while watching out for tigers themselves! Additionally it also provides glimpses into tribal communities living within its boundaries while showing their harmonious coexistence with nature.
