A reservoir of hope

Jamshedpur, also known as the ‘Steel City of India’ is a beautiful city settled between the Subarnarekha and Kharkai rivers. Just 13 km away from this city, is Dimna Lake, a man-made oasis covering an area of about two square miles.

Dimna Lake is not just a popular picnic spot, but it's also a reservoir that stores and provides water for the steel plant and the city. The Dimna Dam was conceived to overcome a water shortage in Tatanagar and surrounding areas. Constructed under Tata Steel, the dam is built on River Kharkai and is administered by the Mirzadih Panchayat of Jamshedpur.

The lake offers a serene experience with a view of the picturesque Dalma range and lush greenery. From November to February, the lake takes on a magical quality when the fog-covered hills create a beautiful scene.

You can enjoy boating, rowing, jet skiing, and other water activities here. For those who want to explore further, there are mini treks into the hills surrounding the lake.

Gorgeous views and scenic villages

As the sun slowly rises from behind the hills, a breathtaking view of nature's beauty unfolds before your eyes. The artificial lake, surrounded by a magnificent mix of deciduous forests and the sweet melodies of birds, is nothing short of spectacular. It's a popular weekend destination for locals and a must-visit spot for tourists on an extended tour. The road leading to Dimna Lake is a feast for your eyes, with its rolling terrain and lush greenery offering a spectacular drive.

The lake is not only a marvel to behold but it's also surrounded by several small villages that offer a glimpse into the region's traditional lifestyle. You can explore the villages and interact with the friendly locals, who are known for their warmth and hospitality.
