The magnificence of Dravidian architecture

Jamshedpur is a beautiful city settled between the Subarnarekha and Kharkai rivers. Though it’s famously known as the ‘Steel City of India,’ Jamshedpur also boasts several historical and spiritual attractions. One such attraction is a beautiful temple that stands tall at 500 metres near Kharangajhar Market.

Behold the magnificent Bhuvaneshwari Temple, popularly known as TELCO Bhuvaneshwari Temple. It is located amidst gorgeous surroundings, including a meandering river that adds to the temple's charm.

This temple was founded in 1978 by Swami Rangarajan and follows the typical Dravidian style of architecture. It is a magnificent sight to see with its five-tiered Rajagopuram (the main entrance tower) standing at a towering height of 64 feet and decorated with 5 Kalasams (spires).

The temple's presiding deity is the powerful Goddess Bhuvaneshwari, an incarnation of Goddess Parvathy. The temple has an eight-pillar mandapam (hall), and each pillar is believed to represent the different incarnations of the presiding goddess. The outer walls of the temple are beautifully carved and stunning to see. When you enter the temple, you will come across a towering 32-foot-high sanctum sanctorum that enshrines a grand statue of the Goddess. The temple also provides a breathtaking view of the town from its elevated position.

Here, puja (religious ritual) is done thrice a day by the priests in the South Indian manner, and prasad (devotional food) is distributed among all the visitors present in the temple.
