Arshad Purnima Festival: An epic celebration
Sudh Mahadev Temple draws worshipers year-round, but June's Arshad Purnima Festival holds special meaning. At this vibrant celebration of tradition and spirituality, tradition meets spirituality to create an unforgettable experience for all those attending. Spanning three days, cultural programs include traditional dances, soulful music performances, soulful food stalls and temporary shops offering delicious snacks such as chutney with pudina and anardana leaves, rajma chawal with Kashmir cheese (kalari), soft kulchas (sour bread).
Incredible legends and their stories
Sudh Mahadev derives its name from a demon called Sudheet. Legend holds that as Lord Shiva meditated here, Sudheet came near Goddess Parvati to pay his respects; when she saw his demonic visage she cried out for help; Lord Shiva then used his Trishul and killed Sudheet despite knowing his mistake; once revived though he declined because death by Lord Shiva was better than any material gain he might receive in return.
