A fortress of delights
Bahu Fort is situated at an elevation of about 325 metres, constructed on top of a rocky plateau. The sturdy walls, made of sandstone, lime, and bricks, have witnessed the rule of many leaders. Eight prominent towers stand out against the sky. If you pass through the grand gates, you will be astonished by its sheer size, which was designed to allow even elephants to enter. Inside, you will discover the heart of the fort, the Bawe Wali Mata temple, where the goddess Kali is worshipped. The sound of prayers fills the air, mingling with the breeze that seems to carry voices from the distant past. As you stroll through the winding paths of the fort, look for signs of its rich history, such as beautifully carved doorways and detailed flower patterns that showcase the skill of artists from bygone eras.
It’s an enthralling place that narrates a story at every turn. Explore the Bagh-e-Bahu garden, which brings the fort to life with its vibrant colours. The Bagh-e-Bahu Aquarium is a recent addition to the Bagh-e-Bahu Garden surrounding the Bahu Fort. It has been designated as the largest underground aquarium in the country, spanning over 220 meters in length and home to 400 different fish species. The fish-shaped aquarium includes 24 caves, with 13 small caves housing freshwater fish and others containing marine fish. In addition to observing fish, visitors can explore a museum, multimedia centre, public gallery, and laboratory promoting aquatic awareness at the site.
