From January to March, certified instructors guide eager learners on the designated skiing grounds. As December blankets the hamlet’s hills with snow, Narkanda transforms into a magical wonderland. The ski season kicks off, and adrenaline junkies hit the slopes, carving their way through powdery snow.
Trek to Hatu Peak, the highest in Shimla at 12,000 feet, for panoramic views of the Himalayas. As you ascend towards Hatu Peak, the winding road treats you to stunning vistas of the snow-capped Himalayas. The surrounding forest is a captivating mix of deodar, fir, spruce, cedar, and blue pine trees, creating a lush green blanket that stretches toward the sky. Hatu Mata Temple holds a mystical allure for pilgrims and nature enthusiasts alike. Revered as the Devi (Goddess) of the Narkanda region and the Narkand Tribe, this temple resonates with ancient legends and spiritual significance.
According to local belief, it was constructed by Mandodari, the wife of the demon king Ravana. Stokes Farm, in the quaint hamlet of Thanedar, is a testament to apple cultivation. Thanedar, known as the prime apple belt of Himachal Pradesh, is a mere 20-minute drive from Narkanda.
Samuel Satyanand Stokes, an American who migrated to India, painstakingly planted this orchard, revolutionising apple production in Himachal Pradesh.
The sprawling farm offers stunning vistas of thousands of colourful apple trees, their branches laden with ripe fruit. Birds chirp and hover, adding to the idyllic scene. Beyond cultivating apples, the farm produces apple wine, sirka (vinegar), and delectable jams.
Tannu Jubbar Lake, located near Narkanda, is a tranquil lake surrounded by lush greenery. Take a leisurely stroll around the lake or simply relax by its shores.
