A confluence of nature and spirituality

Perched across the serene Beas River, a mere 3 kms from the heart of Manali, the village of Vashisht is not just a destination; it's a journey back in time. Renowned for its sulphurous hot springs and the ancient Vashisht Temple, the village holds a special place in the hearts of both pilgrims and explorers. The temple, a homage to Sage Vashisht—one of the revered Saptarishis and the preceptor to Lord Rama—stands as a beacon of spirituality and history, encapsulating 4000 years of devotion.

Legends carved in stone

The Vashisht Temple's lore is as captivating as its architecture. Rooted in millennia-old mythology, it tells tales of Sage Vashisht's trials, his resilience against King Vishwamitra's wrath and his journey from despair to enlightenment, beside the then Vipasha River—now known as the Beas. This sacred site, where the sage sought solace and wisdom, eventually bore his name, immortalising his legacy in the village of Vashisht.

Kath Kuni craftsmanship

Echoing the harmony of nature and craftsmanship, the Vashisht Temple is a masterpiece of Kath Kuni architecture—a style intrinsic to the Himalayas, marrying stone and wood without mortar. The temple's wooden carvings and mural-adorned interiors pay tribute to the rich artistic heritage of Himachal Pradesh, with a revered granite statue of Sage Vashisht at its heart, embodying the spiritual essence of this ancient sanctuary.

Take a dip in the sacred spring

The Vashisht Baths, with their healing hot springs, are the crowning jewels of the village. Emerging from the depths of the Himalayan granite, these waters are imbued with therapeutic minerals, offering solace to those seeking relief from ailments. The springs, flanked by sandstone temples, provide segregated bathing spaces, ensuring a serene and respectful experience for all.
