Soaring over a canopy
The main attraction of the sanctuary is the observation deck. Imagine sitting amidst a canopy of trees, looking down at the world from 25 meters high, and waiting for the wild to go about their day.
The Cotigao Sanctuary was established to protect the ecosystem of the valley. The dense green cover of trees that reach for the sky creates a green canopy, its foliage restricting sunrays from reaching the ground.
Tame, yet terrific
Cotigao may not be home to the more celebrated and glorious animals like tigers and leopards, but it is a haven for species such as the elusive flying squirrel, slender loris, and Indian pangolin. It is even visited and lived in by numerous birds, both rare and common. If you can keep your eyes peeled, you can spot fluttering delights like the Malabar trogon, white-bellied woodpecker, or even the Gazelles, Sloth Bears, Panthers, and other elusive mammals.
