A journey into Mizoram's floral wonderland
This festival serves a dual purpose, a celebration of the enchanting anthurium flower and a heartfelt invitation to explore Mizoram's natural treasures. Conceived through the collaborative efforts of Mizoram's tourism and horticulture departments, the Anthurium Festival typically blooms during September or October when the anthurium flower is at its zenith.
The festival's roots are deeply entwined with the cultivation of anthurium flowers in Mizoram. It began as an initiative to empower local women, offering them financial independence through the cultivation of these exquisite blossoms. The dedicated efforts bore fruit, transforming the state into a thriving hub for anthurium cultivation. The Zo Anthurium Growers Society furthered this journey, enabling the export of these exquisite flowers to various corners of the country and beyond.
Blooms, culture and adventure
The Anthurium Festival is a sensory delight, where every facet of Mizoram's culture and nature comes alive. Against the magnificence of Reiek Mountain, adorned with a mesmerising array of anthurium blooms, the festival unfolds as a colourful extravaganza.
