St. Thomas church

Constructed in 1598 under the auspices of Bishop D. Aleixo Menezes, the Church once held the esteemed title of being Diu's inaugural Parish Church. However, the mantle of Parish Church was eventually passed to the Church of Immaculate Conception. With this transition came a period of neglect, leading to the desecration of the Church of St. Thomas, where it was repurposed for profane uses. Legend has it that the Altar found a new home in Silvassa. Today, the Church of St. Thomas has been revitalized to house a Museum, inaugurated on the 12th of October, 1992. Within its hallowed walls, a mesmerizing collection of carved woods, ancient statues, stone inscriptions, and an array of other historical artifacts have been curated from diverse locations and artfully displayed. Jallandhar shrine
