Nature's haven in the heart of the city

In Raipur's energetic pulse, Nandanvan Garden unfolds like a calming breath. Spanning an expansive area of 800 acres, this picturesque garden is a paradise for nature lovers, wildlife enthusiasts, and seekers of serenity. The garden encompasses an area of 230 acres for four different safaris, 125 acres for zoo and a 5-acres Rescue and Rehabilitation Centre. The 130-acres Khandwa Reservoir adds a serene aquatic element, attracting numerous migratory bird species.

Nandanvan Garden weaves a tapestry of natural beauty and serene tranquillity, making it an unmissable sanctuary for both residents and tourists.

The evolution of Nandanvan

Established in 1979, Nandanvan Mini Zoo in Raipur began as a rescue shelter for distressed animals and evolved into a recreational and educational hub. Following the creation of Chhattisgarh as a separate state in 2000, plans for development of a new capital city, Naya Raipur, also included a world-class safari. In 2008, it gained mini zoo status and after allocation of 800 acres of land in 2015 for the new Nandanvan Zoo and Safari, the old zoo was merged with the modern facility, creating the extensive park we see today.

An adventurous expedition into the wild

One of the main attractions of Nandanvan Garden is its thrilling safari experiences. Visitors can embark on guided tours through the garden's well-maintained trails, offering a chance to observe wildlife in their natural habitat. The safaris are designed to be both educational and exhilarating, allowing visitors to learn about the region's ecosystem while enjoying close encounters with animals in four distinct safaris.

This botanical wonderland showcases over 100 plant species from a diverse range of 40 families. Ixora, Alamanda, and Lantana, specifically chosen for their nectar-rich qualities, entice these winged beauties. Additionally, puddling points serve as both a vital source of water and a place for butterflies to obtain essential minerals, ensuring their thriving population within the park.

Wild Buffalo: Restoring their reign

Nandanvan Jungle Safari is on a mission to bring back the wild buffalo, the majestic state animal of Chhattisgarh, from the brink of extinction. Recognizing their dwindling numbers, the park established a dedicated 2.5-hectare breeding centre.
