When the Indira Gandhi Zoological Park first opened its gates, it marked an important step in the conservation efforts within the state. Its mission was to create a space where wildlife could thrive and at the same time also be a beacon of light for the common public about the importance of nature and ecosystems. What started as a humble setup featuring a modest collection of animal species, has now expanded to house over 80 species of mammals, birds and reptiles. Becoming a treasure trove of learning and conservation. You’ll be amazed to know that the park has relentlessly focused on creating environments that mimic the natural habitats of the animals. What you get to witness is a mini-world where every species is thriving in their own ecosystem. Venture across the different areas categorised according to the diverse mix of species that live here - Carnivorous Section, Lesser Carnivores Section, Primates Section, Small Mammals Section, Birds Section and Reptiles Section.
